Sparrow Schools Educational Trust comprises of a Foundation School, for grades 1 to 7 and a Combined Technical Skills School, catering for 14 to 18 year olds. This is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to ensure that learners excel within the educational sector. Sparrow FET Enterprises (Pty) Ltd. is an accredited Training Company specialising in soft skills training, artisanal skills training and disability training programmes. We employ a social enterprise development model to help solve the problem of youth unemployment in South Africa.
They are looking for a motivated, driven and seasoned Fundraiser who has a passion for working for children with barriers to learning and youth development. Someone with a strong willingness to contribute towards a positive impact in our organisation.
The purpose of this role is to secure funding partners across Trusts and Foundations, Corporates and High Net Individuals both local and international for the work of Sparrow Schools. The fundraiser will work closely with the Fundraising Manager and to deliver the agreed fundraising goals and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Secure, nurture and grow existing donor relationships
Research potential donors and generate new leads and opportunities to increase fundraising income streams
Prepare and write persuasive and well-aligned funding proposals and grant applications
Report to donors in a timeous and informative manner
Champion the professional integrity of Sparrow Schools Educational Trust to foster a culture of an enduring donor base of committed long-term funders
Ensure that all aspects of the fundraising portfolio records and information are always efficiently maintained and readily accessible.
Minimum Requirements:
A completed tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Marketing, Communications, Journalism or Business Studies)
Minimum of five years’ fundraising experience
.2+ years of grant writing experience.
Proven track record of raising sizeable amounts of funding
Track record of writing aligned and shared-value proposals
Sound budgeting, donor reporting and administrative abilities
Good knowledge of programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation techniques and practices.
Familiarity with impact assessment an advantage
Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals.
Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
Strong people skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Willingness to contribute to the values and ethos of Sparrow Schools Educational Trust is essential
Driver’s license and own vehicle essential

Produce reports with M&E findings and prepare presentations based on M&E data as required.

Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent networking, communication (oral, written, interpersonal) and presentation skills
Understanding of the funding environment, CSI, B-BBEE for SED Spends
Track record of writing compelling and convincing proposals
Strong track record in representing organisations in a professional and positive manner and building strong relationships
Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
