Introduction

An opportunity exists to join this Investor in People Company in the above capacity. Metropolitan Lesotho is a wholly owned subsidiary of Momentum Metropolitan Group, a company registered on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. We are currently looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual in the position of Senior Financial Accountant based in Maseru, Lesotho. The incumbent will report directly to the Finance Manager -Business Performance in the Finance Department.  

Role Purpose

To manage the Corporate Finance function (Employee Benefits, Credit Life and Pension Funds) through professional and ethical financial practices and services that provide quality and accurate financial information and financial reporting to support and enable business processes and decision-making. To ensure completion of financial audits, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring financial records are accurate throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Qualified CA (preferred)
  • Experience in Employee Benefits
  • Minimum of 2 years in people management preferable 
  • Minimum of 5 years in Finance Services (Insurance preferred)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver on service level agreements made with internal and external stakeholders and clients.
  • Participate and contribute to a culture which build rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service.
  • Continuously develop own expertise in terms of professional, industry and legislation knowledge.
  • Manage a team through training, mentoring and performance management
  • Contribute to the identification of solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and increase operational efficiency within area of responsibility. Risk analysis- Review, formulation and implementation of control procedures and manuals
  • Contribute to the enhancement of systems, processes and arising issues in order to enhance financial management.
  • Ensure that all pension funds are in compliance with the fund rules and all relevant laws.
  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with peers and stakeholders.
  • Review and analyse trial balance accounts on a monthly basis for monthly management accounts reporting.
  • Manage the reconciliations of transactions on the bank statement to the General Ledger and control accounts.
  • Manage general ledger and other financial controls to ensure compliance to the relevant standards and controls and laws
