SUMMARY:
The purpose of this job is to develop and maintain financial accounting systems to ensure proper management of PSI funds in accordance with donor guideline and Lesotho Laws. The position is based in head Office and reports to the Finance Manager – Corporate Services.
The position supervises the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of Financial Accounting Functions
Ensuring accuracy and timely recording of financial transactions through daily verification of all financial transactions.
Daily oversee on financial operations by monitoring the standard operating procedures, systems and controls to ensure efficiency of the Finance functions.
Assist in forecasting cash needs and ensuring availability of operating funds for PSI Lesotho.
Reviewing all internal funds requests according to PSI Lesotho signing and approvals authority matrix before payment processing in Finance.
Verifying and approving Finance Transactions in Quick Books system
Reviewing transactions before posting to the General Ledger in QuickBooks
Manage performance of Financial Accounting Staff who report directly to the Senior Finance Officer
Monitor, analyze and verify GL Accounts in Quick Books and closure of all Quick Books Sub-ledgers
and managing aging of sub ledger accounts.
Ensure Banks are monitored and reconciled monthly and financial transactions and accounting reports
Monitoring, managing and regularly analyzing finance procedures to ensure adherence to police and avoid internal control breakdowns.
Ensure compliance with PSI and Donor financial regulations and requirements on daily basis.
Assists in providing required reports in Washington and submitting appropriate documentation and relevant reports
Ensures the safekeeping of cheques and valuable documents in a locked safe.
Assist in preparation of consolidated financial statements for PSI Lesotho
Assist with coordination of internal and external audits
Assist in supporting users and overseeing the performance of Quick Books system
Prepares office signatory panel and regularly update as necessary.
ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Accounting and Finance
Professional qualification with NBAA (CPA T).
RELEVANT WORKING EXPERIENCE:
About 2 years’ experience in Accounting and Finance
