Senior Fellow, Green Tech (Pretoria, SA)
Introduction
Role description
APRI seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Research Fellow to support and contribute to its research on green technology transfer. The ideal candidate will have relevant research experience and knowledge of green technology trade, investments and transfer, especially in the context of the African continent and South Africa.
Responsibilities
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive quantitative and qualitative research on trade, investment and green technology transfer in South Africa, including primary data collection, literature reviews, and mapping and analysis of existing policies, regulations, and initiatives.
- Analyse the status, identify sources and quantity, and assess the potential impact of trade, investment and technology transfer on economic growth.
- Investigate international best practices and case studies related to trade, investment and green technology transfer.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, policy makers, industry representatives, research institutions, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and Civil society organisations (CSO).
- Facilitate consultations, workshops, and meetings to gather input and insights from diverse stakeholders, ensuring their perspectives are integrated into the project’s findings and recommendations.
Policy Development and Recommendations:
- Identify policy and policy implementation gaps, barriers, and opportunities to trade, investmentĀ and technology transfer in South Africa
- Work closely with stakeholders and policy experts to develop and experiment evidence-based policy recommendations to enhance green technology transfer efforts.
- Provide guidance and support to relevant government agencies in formulating and implementing policies and regulations to enhance technology transfer.
Knowledge Sharing:
- Organise knowledge-sharing events to disseminate project findings, best practices, and policy recommendations to a wider audience.
- Collaborate with relevant institutions to promote the adoption of best practices in technology transfer and Innovation.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (LLM, Phd, JD) in fields such as Trade, Economics, or Intellectual Property Rights.
- Strong knowledge of and extensive relevant experience (at least 8 years) in conducting research, data analysis, and policy analysis of trade, investment and technology Transfer.
- Proven track record of strong quantitative data analysis skills.
- Proven track record of engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, policy makers, industry representatives, CSOs, and NGOs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate and collaborate with international, multidisciplinary teams.
