Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified and competent Engineers to apply for the vacant position of Senior Engineer.

Job purpose

To manage all engineering work and projects to ensure continuous running of the Mine to achieve its production targets. The incumbent will be required to relieve the Engineering Manager and take on the responsibilities of the Site Engineer when he is not on site.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Engineering Manager, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;

•       Ensure compliance and adherence to SHE programs, best practices, safety standards and regulations;

•       Identify areas requiring maintenance planning and obtain approval of maintenance plans from Engineering Manager;

•       The incumbent is technically responsible for all planned maintenance, schedules and engineering work done by the department;

•       Must be knowledgeable and up to date with the Operation and Maintenance requirements of all equipment on Site.

•       Compile short to medium term plans for electrical and mechanical activities;

•       Make periodic inspections of assigned facilities to determine conditions and maintenance requirements;

•       Diagnose problem areas and initiates necessary remedial action;

•       Estimate and initiate orders for equipment, materials and tools and ensure availability for maintenance work to be carried out;

•       Review and adopt plans in terms of instructions, delays in availability of materials or unforeseen circumstances;

•       Ensure maintenance, supervision and planning of resources are made for the most effective maintenance outcomes;

•       Ensure work requisitions for mechanical/electrical maintenance from
departments are received and that an updated maintenance history and job records database is up dated;

•       Develop standard mechanical/electrical and maintenance work procedures and checklists for review by Line Supervisors;

•       Follow-up on work allocated and complete checks to ensure application of quality standards;

•       Assign, monitor and inspect any work assigned and work outsourced given to the contractors to ensure compliance.

•       Adhere to approved maintenance and allocated project budgets;

•       Submit reports on all maintenance activities to relevant stakeholders;

•       Ensure availability of competencies through appropriate training and development of all engineering staff.

Legal and other requirements

•       Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness

•       Valid driver’s license

Qualifications and experience

•       5 – 10 years’ experience in a plant maintenance environment;

•       Degree or relevant Tertiary qualification/certification in
mechanical/electrical engineering;

•       Project management;
