Position: Senior Economic Planner

Responsible To: Chief Economic Planner
Main Purpose of the Job
Under the general supervision of the Chief Economic Planner, the incumbent:
- Writes research papers on typical and social issues
- Coordinates activities of sub-regional and international economic groupings as they relate to the needs of Lesotho (SADC, IMF, ECA, World Bank, etc.)
- Supervises the publication of economic and social reports
- Provides leadership in the formation of sectoral plans and strategies for implementation
- Evaluates ongoing programmes and projects
- Participates in the identification, formation, and monitoring of projects
- Responsible for on-the-job training of junior staff
- Coordinates and supervises aid implementation and monitoring
- Coordinates donor support to the country
Job Specification
Option 1:
- Master’s Degree in Economics or Statistics
- Plus two (2) years’ relevant working experience
Option 2:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or Statistics
- Plus five (5) years’ relevant working experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Data analysis and management
- Ability to evaluate development proposals
- Knowledge of Public Service Rules and Regulations
- Knowledge of Development Planning
- Proficiency in Sesotho and English
