Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following vacant position tenable in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition.

Senior Economic Planner

Position Details

Department: Field Services and Administration
Title: Senior Economic Planner
Grade: H
Number of Positions: One
Responsibility: DAO Berea / Chief Economic Planner
Location: DAO Berea, Maseru

Main Duties

  1. Participates in the identification, formulation, monitoring and evaluation of developmental programmes and projects.
  2. Carries out overall socio‑economic analysis of programmes and projects.
  3. Carries out monitoring of projects as they relate to sectors (including physical site visits).
  4. Prepares regular reports on physical and financial progress on all programmes.
  5. Contributes to the formulation of National Development Plans, sector plans, strategies and policy papers.
  6. Identifies data sources for the formulation of sectorial plans, strategies and policy papers.
  7. Oversees collection and analysis of data and relevant material for topical issues.
  8. Takes part in the process of preparing and distributing agricultural development plans.
  9. Analyses data to determine the performance and trends of key indicators.
  10. Updates and inputs data into NMES.
  11. Updates donors and project profiles.
  12. Contributes to dissemination of reports.
  13. Establishes feasible options to enhance performance.
  14. Prepares an annual work plan.
  15. Contributes to budget discussions, preparation and presentation.

Job Specification

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Economics plus two years working experience in development planning at Economic Planner level.
    OR
  • Degree in Economics plus three years’ experience in development planning as an Economic Planner and must have demonstrated professional ability and competence.
