JOB TITLE: Senior Curriculum Specialist (Numerical and Mathematical)
GRADE: I

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director, NCDC
Job Summary
The incumbent will:
• Coordinate all sectional activities in the Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area
• Facilitate the drawing of sectional plans and budgets
• Monitor the implementation of sectional plans and activities
• Liaise with other sectional heads to ensure integration across learning areas
• Advise the Director on matters related to the Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area
• Supervise staff within the Learning Area
Main Duties
1.0 Coordination of Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area for Smooth Running of the Section
1.1 Monitors the design and development of curricular in his/her learning area at all levels of basic education
1.2 Supervises, coordinates, and monitors the preparation of instructional materials in his/her learning area
1.3 Supervises, coordinates, and monitors the carrying out of pilot testing of curriculum and instructional materials in schools
1.4 Supervises, coordinates, and monitors the dissemination and in-service activities
1.5 Organizes sectional meetings
1.6 Recommends authorization of the Numerical and Mathematical Learning Areas’ activities
1.7 Allocates and manages sectional resources
1.8 Facilitates implementation of the Numerical and Mathematical Learning Areas’ activities
1.9 Facilitates follow-up school visits and in-service training, workshops concerning the Numerical and Mathematical Learning Areas’ activities
2.0 Facilitates Drawing of Numerical and Mathematical Learning Areas Budget for Effective Implementation of Activities
2.1 Sets objectives for Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area’s plan and budget
2.2 Consolidates the Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area’s individual plans and budget into a section’s plan and budget
2.3 Submits sectional plan and budget to the Director
3.0 Monitoring the Implementation of Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area’s Plan and Budget to Enhance Quality Assurance and Cost-Effectiveness
3.1 Designs monitoring tools
3.2 Conducts progress review meetings
3.3 Produces monitoring reports
4.0 Liaising with Other Sectional Heads and Advises the Director Accordingly to Enhance Control and Consistency
4.1 Attends sectional heads’ meetings
4.2 Nominates and recommends relevant panel members for approval
4.3 Provides feedback to the Director on curriculum process
4.4 Advises the Director on matters concerning Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area
5.0 Supervision of Sectional Staff to Enhance Performance
5.1 Facilitates preparation of individual work plans
5.2 Appraises Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area staff
6.0 Report on Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area Activities for Information Sharing and Appropriate Action
6.1 Produces and presents performance and financial reports to the Director
6.2 Shares relevant information with the professional staff
Job Specification
Master’s Degree in Curriculum Studies with specialty in Mathematics plus three (3) years’ work experience as Curriculum Specialist/panel member/task team member in the Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area
OR
Bachelor’s Degree with specialty in Mathematics plus five (5) years’ work experience as Curriculum Specialist/panel member/task team member in the Numerical and Mathematical Learning Area
