Position Title: Senior Business Controller

The main purpose of the job is to manage revenue and related expense reporting for the Distribution Centre (DC) Johannesburg, thereby ensuring control, accuracy, predictability and timely delivery of results, comparative analysis and commentary to DC leaders and Regional Business Units (BU) Finance team. Understand business/economic/environmental drivers of Actual results versus Operating Plan and Forecast. Ensure financial planning processes for revenue and direct expenses – strategically capture, carefully estimate and skillfully communicate business impacting events. Anticipate changes, seek better practices and contribute to the company as a whole to be successful in its aims.

Reporting: This position will report to the Director GTO Service Market Logistics

Job Objectives

  • Manage and support all DC revenue and expense reporting, ensuring control, accuracy, predictability and timely delivery of figures, analysis and comments. (Including OPEX)

  • Ensure all local, regional and corporate reporting for DC is completed accurately and on-time as directed.

  • Manage the inbound and outbound freight budget.

  • Manage the investment process.

  • Manage the authorisation rules register.

  • Managing the Cost Development process together with the DC Managers

  • Mainly responsible for the DC’s Cost Deployment initiatives

  • Support DC in pursuit of financial targets through in-depth analysis and sharing of financial knowledge.

  • Actively ensure compliance with laws, policies and best practices.

  • Prepare the business plan and the site review.

  • Prepare accurate estimate 4 times per year (E3/E5/E9/E11).

  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly accounts in close co-operation with ACC.

  • Support the enhancement and compliance of Business Finance processes, standards and systems and assist during external and internal audits.

  • Interface with the Regional Business Controllers and participate in all the relevant networks

  • Communicate, discuss and challenge financial impacts with DC Managers. Prepare and present the DC in related meetings where financial input/commentary is required/requested.

  • Manage the DC’s Petty Cash.

  • Responsible for the Receptionist.

  • Working with VPS (Volvo Production System) concept and its tools in operations

Education & Job Experience

  • At least Bachelor (or higher degree) in Business Administration or Economics

  • B Comm. Degree (Management Accounting)

  • Diploma: Cost & Management Accounting

  • Completed Articles (advantageous)
