The Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) is an independent and autonomous body and is the Supreme Audit Institution in Lesotho. OAG is responsible for auditing government revenue and spending and to oversee the management of public funds and the quality and credibility of government’s reported financial data.

OAG invites applications from suitably qualified local candidates for the following positions:

CORE DESCRIPTION

Senior Auditor is responsible for planning an audit, supervision of an audit team and drafting of paragraphs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Acquires knowledge and understanding of the audited entity to determine the approach to be adopted and the nature and extent of enquiries to be made.

•    Establishes  the  key  audit  objectives  with  appropriate  Risk  of  Significant Misstatement   by   planning   the   engagement,   identifying   the significant accounts, the significant risks and the significant fraud risks, in conjunction with the Audit Manager.

•    Develops testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives.

•     Communicates assigned tasks to engagement team in a manner that is clear and concise ensuring high quality, accurate, and efficient results.

•     Assesses the sufficiency and appropriateness of evidence and conclusions reached on an audit by reviewing the working papers of team members and evaluates issues raised.

•     Applies knowledge of current issues in audit, financial reporting standards, regulatory requirements and industry specific concerns to client engagements, identifies where they may impact a client and reflects these in the audit documentation.

•     Documents the results of the review process in accordance to OAG audit methodology.

•     Identifies audit differences and issues and escalates as appropriate.

•     Concludes on key accounting issues and identifies issues for reporting in the management letter and other communications with management and those charged with governance and prepares the first drafts.

QUALIFICATIONS

•    Master’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting option), M.Sc.
     Accounting and Finance or any other related field from a recognised institution.

•    Full membership of a professional body EXPERIENCE

•    At least four (4) years’ experience as an Auditor

•    Bachelor’s Degree in in Business Administration (Accounting option), B.Sc.      Accounting and Finance or any other related field from a recognised institution.

•    Full membership of a professional body
