Position Title: Senior Accountant
Location: On site
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Finance Director

  1. Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with tax regulations, and supporting the financial health of the company. The role requires expertise in construction accounting, cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate should be a Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent, with at least 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the construction industry.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and local tax regulations.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports, tax returns, and statutory filings.
  • Maintain compliance with government regulations, construction tax laws, and financial policies.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting
  • Develop and monitor construction project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Analyze cost variations and financial performance to provide insights to management.
  • Ensure proper allocation and tracking of project expenses.
  • Cash Flow & Financial Management
  • Manage cash flow, financial forecasts, and liquidity for ongoing projects.
  • Ensure timely invoicing, accounts payable, and receivable management.
  • Monitor bank reconciliations, financial transactions, and funding requirements.
  • Audit & Internal Controls
  • Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to financial regulations.
  • Implement internal financial controls to mitigate risks and prevent fraud.
  • Conduct financial reviews and reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
  • Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with corporate tax, VAT, payroll taxes, and other financial obligations.
  • Optimize tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and financial regulators when required.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
  • Provide financial reports and insights to senior management and project teams.
  • Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and external auditors.
  • Assist in financial decision-making for capital investments and project funding.
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Education & Certification
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Preferably a Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based accounting.
  • Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Experience with ERP systems, accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP), and financial modelling.
  • Construction Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of project-based accounting, contract costing, and revenue recognition.
  • Financial Analysis & Budgeting: Ability to analyze financial data and optimize budgets.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of construction tax laws, financial reporting standards, and auditing processes.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to resolve financial discrepancies and provide strategic insights.
  • Leadership & Team Collaboration: Ability to work with cross-functional teams and mentor junior accountants.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation.
  • Ability to travel to project sites when necessary.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
  • Availability to handle financial audits and year-end closing processes.
