SECURITY SYSTEMS IT TECHNICIAN

Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified, competent, self-driven and results oriented Basotho to apply for the vacant position of Security Systems IT Technician.
Job purpose
The incumbent is responsible for installation, maintenance and support of all surveillance, access controls systems and security related IT systems at Liqhobong Mine. The position is further required to routinely assess the condition, safety and efficiency of tools, machinery, and equipment with the aim of maximizing security availability and minimizing security system downtimes.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Security Superintendent, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;
- Maintain the required standard with regards to all Security IT computer and Network Related Equipment, Surveillance Systems, Access Control, Network, Software and Hardware support and maintenance;
- Identify and analyse poor performance of the IT and Security Systems and repair and replace equipment;
- Ensure high availability of IT and Security Systems equipment and ensure security standards are adhered to;
- Ensure the necessary reporting functions for IT and Security Systems are adhered to;
- Ensure all Diamond Security Standards related maintenance schedules are adhered to;
- Identify security risks to all systems and rectify such timeously;
- Ensure the security system’s integrity is maintained;
- Liaise with all Security Role players to ensure that the CCTV system functions to the advantage of any events/ actions that may affect the security of the mine;
- Liaise with all other departments within the mine, processing, instrumentation and finance on security systems protocols and requirements;
- Ensure compliance and adherence to SHE policies, programmes, practices, safety standards and legislative and operational requirements;
Legal and other requirements
- Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness;
- Valid driver’s license;
Qualifications and experience
- 4 years’ experience in a similar role or as a IT Technician in a commercial/industrial environment;
- Degree /diploma in Electronics, CCTV, and IT (Computers and Networks) or equivalent
- Extensive security systems background at a technical level, CCTV & Alarm Systems
- Experience in Babylon Access Control an advantage
- Experience in CCTV an advantage
- Experience in IT – Computer and Network configuration and maintenance
- Previous Diamond Mining experience in the Security field an advantage
Skills and competencies
- Time management;
- Technical acumen in information technology;
- Optimal use of materials and spares;
- Sound technical trouble shooting/ fault finding skills, backup management, fibre splicing, networks, servers, cameras, power supplies and access control; Maintaining user accounts
- Proficiency in English;
- Quality control
