SECURITY SUPERINTENDENT

Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified and competent Basotho to apply for the vacant position of Security Superintendent in the Security Department.

Job purpose

To provide leadership in the development and implementation of the Mine’s overall security strategy through implementation of flexible and efficient security solutions that ensure the protection of Mine’s assets.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Support Services Manager, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;

  • Responsible for providing leadership, advice and counsel to line management and subordinate personnel on matters of security policy and procedures;
  • Responsible for giving direction to all security personnel in achieving current and long-term strategic objectives;
  • Oversee the continuous monitoring and protection of assets, facilities, product, personnel and information systems and proactively respond to any perceived risks or breaches;
  • Develop and implement security policies, standards and guidelines to ensure adherence and compliance to Mine security;
  • Control risks through the on-going evaluation of risk areas and potential threats, (as per security performance assessment criteria) the collecting and analysing of information, identifying and recommending necessary changes in organisational requirements or security practices to relevant line managers;
  • Ensures that the Mine conforms to best practice and provides a secure environment;
  • Train/coach section personnel in operations, regulations, standards and procedures;
  • Plan, co-ordinate and control operations and staffing requirements for the security department;
  • Control and justify section budget to ensure alignment with departmental objectives and budget;
  • Evaluate changes to the Mining environment for security impact and report findings to senior management.

Legal and other requirements

  • Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Willingness to undergo the Mine’s Integrity Tests.

Qualifications and experience

  • 8 – 10 years’ experience in the Mining Industry in the middle management role;
  • Degree in Security Management or equivalent recognised qualification;
  • Good knowledge of the technical skills surrounding security technologies in the field of CCTV, Access Control and Diamond Control;
  • Sound knowledge of Criminal Procedure Act, Law of Evidence and Security Law;
  • Knowledge of Precious Stones Order of 1970, no.24
