Career Opportunity: Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst (x3)
The Central Bank of Lesotho invites applications for the position of Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst. The role is responsible for monitoring, analysing, and protecting the Bank’s digital assets from cyber and information security threats.
The SOC Analyst will conduct cybersecurity operations, including threat hunting, logging, incident response, and resolution.
Areas of Responsibility
- 24/7 monitoring of security systems such as SIEM, NDR, EDR, XDR, as well as network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, routers) and application performance for anomalies or misconfigurations
- Monitor internal and external network traffic and system logs to identify anomalies, lateral movement, and potential breaches
- Perform the full lifecycle of security incidents, from initial detection to remediation and post-incident reporting
- Conduct forensic-level investigations across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments
- Perform security research, threat hunting, and analysis to identify current and emerging threats
- Proactively detect, assess, respond to, and mitigate security threats
- Perform regular security assessments in collaboration with security teams, including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and network security assessments
- Collect and analyse event data from security tools such as SIEM, EDR, NDR, IPS, and firewalls to confirm or rule out malicious activity
- Collaborate with teams on security drills to test incident response plans and procedures
- Log and resolve security incidents in a timely manner
Key Duties
- Continuously monitor security alerts from multiple sources (SIEM, IPS, firewalls, endpoint security solutions, etc.)
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, including containment, eradication, and recovery
- Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats and trends and apply knowledge to improve detection and response
- Assist in identifying and remediating vulnerabilities across IT infrastructure
- Document incidents and produce detailed reports with actionable recommendations
- Work closely with IT, network, and application teams to implement security measures
- Participate in the development and enhancement of security processes, playbooks, and standard operating procedures

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Computer Systems and Networks Engineering
- Computer Science
- Electronics Engineering
- Any related IT qualification
Additional Knowledge (Advantageous)
- SIEM tools for log analysis and incident detection
- Microsoft Active Directory
- TCP/IP stack and networking
- Scripting languages: JavaScript, Python, NodeJS, PowerShell, PHP, Bash
- Security standards: ISO 27001, CIS, NIST 800 series
- Experience with Linux and Windows server environments
- Professional certifications such as:
- Cisco CCNA
- CompTIA Security+
- CCNP Security
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- Incident Handling certifications
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an ICT and/or information/cybersecurity-related field
