Job Title: Security Officer
Reports To: Security Manager / Deputy
Number of Positions: 2
Purpose of the Position
To ensure the safety and security of all company personnel, property, products, and visitors, while maintaining compliance with cannabis industry regulations and internal security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
• Patrol and monitor company premises (indoor and outdoor) to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or suspicious activity
• Enforce access control policies, including verification of employee and visitor identification, permits, and manifests
• Monitor security systems such as CCTV, intrusion alarms, and motion detectors
• Ensure secure transport and tracking of cannabis products in line with legal and company requirements
• Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and emergencies; document and report findings
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings, doors, windows, and security infrastructure
• Maintain detailed daily activity reports, incident logs, and shift summaries
• Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary
• Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and cannabis compliance protocols
• Assist in training new security staff on company-specific procedures
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all sensitive information and operations
Qualifications & Requirements
• Minimum of a high school certificate or equivalent
• Proven experience as a Security Officer or Guard, preferably in a high-security or regulated industry
• Strong understanding of security operations, safety practices, and emergency procedures
• Physically fit and able to remain alert for extended periods
• Basic computer skills for report writing and CCTV monitoring
• Valid security certification/license as per national or local regulations
• No criminal record; must pass a background check and drug screening
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Preferred Attributes
• Experience in the cannabis, pharmaceutical, or other high-risk industries
• Knowledge of cannabis regulations and security compliance
• Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism
• Strong observation, problem-solving, and communication skills
