The Global Business Roundtable (GBR) was established on 21st August 2009. It started as a discussion forum as well as a support, networking and prayer group for people in business and various intellectual professions.
The GBR is a global business networking initiative which was prompted by a desire to start a prayer meeting group for people in business as well as to provide support for professionals in their various fields. The organisation is founded on Biblical principles and is inspired by God throughout the various initiatives it undertakes.
This global business networking initiative has experienced the great move of God and has seen an unprecedented exponential growth. The GBR now has thousands of members spread across several countries including The United States of America (USA), Spain, Thailand, Germany, Ghana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Sweden, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Nigeria, The Caribbean Islands, which make up 73 nations in total.
Based in Johannesburg, Gauteng – Global Business Roundtable (GBR) seeks to appoint a
SECTOR MANAGER – SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
Responsible for the identification, analysis, design, packaging and development of innovative technological platforms, this position reports to the Multi-Sector Programme Director. Its primary function is to promote the advancement of technology solutions for business, education, monitoring & evaluation, sustainable/renewable energy, transport, media, communication, and finance. The incumbent will need to have a flair for cutting-edge technology across the technology spectrum and, should be a strategist with sustainability in the forefront of their mind. Being innovative, creative, enterprising, resourceful, and prepared to drive a well-formulated strategy to equip GBR with the wherewithal to adapt, effectively use and where necessary invest in scientific & technological enhancements to deliver products and services effectively to beneficiaries, nationally, regionally and globally.
Key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Develop and maintain an organisational science & technology strategy that focuses on technological enhancements, renewable energy, disruptive & innovative technology.
Develop an science & technology platform that serves the organisation’s drive into the scientific & technological arena.
Researches and implements schience & technological strategic solutions.
Plans, monitors, and appraises job results.
Initiates, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures relevant to the science & technology space.
Directs science & technological research by studying organization goals, strategies & practices, and matching these to user projects.
Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and a data centre, including conducting project audits
Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security & control structures covering science & technological areas where the organization and its parent company has a vested interest.
Recommends scientific & technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating outcomes.
Identifies problems, evaluates trends and maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing best practices & standards.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending scientific & technological workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Should also be open to assisting colleagues with scientific & techonological expertise to mitigate risks.
Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed within a multi-sectorial environment
The Sector Manager: Science & Technology must meet the following criteria:
A sincere faith in God and a commitment to Christian faith and service in the promotion of scientific innovation, whilst enhancing environmental and ecological awareness and conservation.
Bachelor’s (preferably) master’s degree in applied sciences or a related field of study
Five or more years of work experience in scientific research & development, product or system specific certification.
Experience in managing cross-functional teams and multi-disciplinary projects, as well as organisational development and change.
Knowledge pertinent to the development and delivery of virtual platforms and frameworks.
Experience in the design of digitised platform models.
Instructional and graphic/information design experience.
Ability to visualise instructional graphics, user interface and finished product.
Experience with creating supporting material (audio, video, simulation, etc) to illustrate science & technology enhancements to non-experts.
Conceptualize and design digital elements for online learning platforms to educate & inform.
