Job Description
-In fulfilling the Section Manager Engineering you will be responsible for major work scope development and planning ensuring mining maintenance is optimised and delivered whilst adhering to all safety and legislative requirements through:

  • Improve maintenance tactics through defect elimination and drive maintenance execution excellence through rigorous planning to ensure on-time and high-quality safe execution
  • Collaborating with other Engineering sections to identify opportunities to improve the Technical, Commercial and People performance of the Business
  • Implementing, monitoring and managing the shift handover process and standby arrangements for the section
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects to ensure best practice engineering processes are in place
  • Ensuring that efficient and accurate processing of task as per schedule to agreed site or staging area. Timeous return of tools, surplus materials & reconditionable items.
  • People management through the assessment of training needs and implementation of training programme, manage contractors and service providers to ensure maximised outputs in order to deliver projects within the timeframe and budget management to ensure effective cost control and savings
  • Lead zero harm in Safety through active participation in relevant safety audits, incident investigations, inspections and observations, address issues as part of demonstrating safety leadership and ensure adherence to Mine Health and Safety Act and Basic Conditions of Employment Act legal requirements

This role is in the Asset Strategy & Reliability Department on a Band 6 and reporting to Manager Engineering.

  • Qualifications
    -Completed grade 12, Engineering degree or National Diploma is essential
  • GCC (Mines and Works) is essential

Experience Required:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in mining engineering maintenance.
  • HME / Opencast experience will be beneficial
  • Asset Management experience will be beneficial
  • Strong operational / execution management a requirement
  • Experience in SAP systems is advantageous
  • Experience MS office proficiency
