Position Overview
The American International School of Lesotho (AISL) is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and proactive School Nurse to support the health, safety, and well-being of our students and school community. The School Nurse provides daily health services, emergency care, and wellness education, while playing a vital role in safeguarding and promoting a healthy learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first aid, emergency care, and health assessments for students and staff
- Administer prescribed medications and manage chronic health conditions
- Maintain accurate student health records and communicate with families regarding health concerns
- Coordinate health screenings and follow up as needed
- Promote wellness through health education, pastoral lessons, and community communication
- Monitor and manage communicable diseases and infection control
- Develop and support health-related emergency procedures
- Supervise students during high-risk times (breaks, lunch, activities, sports, and swimming)
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and serve as a member of the Child Protection Team
- Maintain medical supplies, emergency kits, and health office organization
- Lead or co-facilitate pastoral care education classes for students
- Actively communicates with school community on preventative and responsive health related matters
Preferred Qualifications
- Nursing degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Current nursing licensure
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience in school or pediatric nursing preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills - Ability to work with students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and needs
- Ability to swim is highly desirable
Physical & Other Requirements
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and provide first aid/CPR
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Willingness to undergo background checks and maintain required licensure
- Flexibility to support occasional events outside regular school hours
Working Conditions
- Full-time position during the school year

- Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities related to health events or emergencies
