Overview:

As a Mimecast Sales Engineer you will provide a sales enablement function mapping Mimecast’s product suite to customers business and technical requirements in a seamless, easy and uninterrupted way.

Based in our Johannesburg office, this position will support the sales activities of United Kingdom and Ireland sales team. As a Sales Engineer, you will be an enthusiastic and energetic technical advisor who is looking for a role that places you at the forefront of new technology and innovation with an established solution set.

The Sales Engineer will cover these main competencies

  • Pre-Sales Support. Provide technical advice and support to sales opportunities by engaging with technical contacts within customer and reseller partner organizations. Ensure the Mimecast service is positioned correctly, understood by customers and any technical objections are overcome.
  • Technical Qualification Consulting. Provide product demonstrations, presentations to senior customer contacts, Proof of Concepts and writing formal RFP response documents. Work with our sales colleagues by providing input into the qualifications and sales strategies in partnership with sales.
  • Training and Developing Partners. Ensure Mimecast reseller partners are capable of selling and supporting Mimecast services. Train partners and develop close working relationships with various technical staff in the reseller partner organization.

Who we are looking for:

  • You will be passionate about technology, with experience in or an interest in moving into SaaS/Cloud based technology. Technically, you will be well-versed in the nuances of email infrastructure. You will have experience with Microsoft Exchange, and potentially its relevant competitors too. You will understand email protocol, and the infrastructure required to support it.
  • The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic professional with in-depth technical abilities as well as a commercial acumen and sales skills. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a background in sales engineering in the cyber security space who is looking to drive their career forward.

You must be able to establish & maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle, exude a passion for understanding the technical needs of the customer and articulating the value of Mimecast’s products and solutions in meeting those needs. You must therefore be a confident and experienced communicator who is able to represent Mimecast with impact and professionalism.
Responsibilities:

This role supports the sales team to sell Mimecast’s solutions by:

  • Being the trusted technical advisor in prospect and customer engagements, Positioning Mimecast’s solutions as business benefit relevant to the audience and/or decision makers.
  • Supporting the sales team with engagement at all stages of the sales cycle including discovery, demonstrations, technical review, writing proposals and closing deals.
  • Connecting conversations with internal and external stakeholders to determine and deliver relevant content based on customer requirements. This collaboration includes, but is not limited to the Support Engineering team, the IT team and our executive leadership team.
  • Being involved in Partner relationships and engagements, supporting the Channel Sales team by owning the presales guidance and developing content and presenting at Channel Partner events.
  • Supporting Customers and Channel Partners in the delivery of presentations and webinars.
  • Collaborating with the Sales team and wider business to continually evolve our customer experience.
  • Developing your skills set to help train colleagues on new and existing Mimecast products and features.
  • Continuously build your understanding of the industry, the challenges that our prospects, customers and competitors may face, continually innovate and collectively find new ways to be successful.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical solutions to a business focused audience effectively.
  • Ability to build trust quickly with internal and external stakeholders remotely during engagements.
  • Ability to solve problems and take ownership of your performance and be a collaborative team player.
  • Demonstrate a customer centric mindset and a desire for team success.
  • A desire to learn and find new ways to innovate and be successful.
  • 1-2 years pre-sales experience or time spent in a similar customer facing technical role
  • Demonstrable relevant experience in a reputable technology vendor or reseller.
  • Well-versed in Microsoft-based infrastructures including Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365
  • Understanding of spam, viruses, email security and Internet based threats
  • Familiarity with networking and security technologies and services


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • B-Tech: IT or similar
  • MCSE, MCITP or equivalent
  • Security+ or equivalent certification preferred, but not essential
