Linkage and Retention Officer

Operating in the various Management Areas of the DCS, the Linkage and Retention Officer (LRO) will be responsible for actively setting up and maintaining linkages between DCS Correctional Facilities and Department of Health care facilities.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Linkage Management
Strengthening linkages between the community and facilities in collaboration with the Area Coordinators;
Set-up and manage a referral system for inmates on release;
Serve as a point of contact and information base between the community and DCS facilities;
Facilitate consultative meeting between DCS facilities and CBOs;

Monitoring, Evaluation and reporting
Support the SA Partners monitoring and evaluation team with data collection, collation and verifications related to the linkage of parolees and health facilities;
Track linkage targets, prepare and submit monthly reports.

Quality Assurance and Quality Improvements (QA/QI);
Supports Quality Improvement processes as per need.

General Administration
Timeously request support from the Program Assistants and supply all information as needed;
Ensure that all confidential information is kept safely and securely as laid out in the SA Partners program protocol;
Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications and Experience:
A Grade 12 Certificate;
A post-matric qualification in will be social sciences, community health or related field will be an added advantage;
At least 3 years’ experience working in the public health and/or the NGO sector on HIV/AIDS related community projects is an essential requirement;
Knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and care;
At least 2 years’ experience in Data Capturing;
Experience with delivering training and facilitating group sessions.
Skills and additional Competencies:
Familiar with USG/CDC/USAID funding rules;
Extensive knowledge of MS Office suite;
Experience working independently and in a team;
Knowledge of the local language(s) and geographic area;
Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills;
Quick learner and self-starter with ability to take initiative and work in a start-up and Team-oriented environment;
Strong work ethic and ability to prioritize and multi-task;
Driver’s license is an added advantage;
Travel up to 70% within South Africa.
