Position : Risk and Compliance Manager
Department : Cassava
Reports to : GM – Cassava
Main Purpose:
To ensure that the company operates within the provisions of all applicable laws and regulations, applies compliance risk management methodologies and internal compliance framework and ensure the implementation of enterprise wide risk management to manage risk thereby enhancing the company’s earnings.
Major Tasks:
• Develops and updates the Compliance Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management Framework
• Prepare and maintain a Compliance Risk Matrix (informed by the Regulatory Universe)
• Facilitate the company wide risk assessment and monitor the capability around managing the priority risk
• Develop, maintain and communicate comprehensive Compliance Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management Plans
• Provide and document input relating to internal control design and implementation (Policies; Business Process Flows; Operational Procedure Manuals)
• Prepare, implement and maintain a risk-based Monitoring program
• Report on the levels of compliance with relevant legislation, company policies and standards to management
• Monitor and report the implementation of audit findings and facilitate timely resolution of outstanding findings.
• Manage/conduct regulatory change impact assessments and regulatory change implementation projects.
• Inculcate Risk Management and compliance culture within the business
• Provide guidance to business units/departments on the specific provisions of applicble existing legislation and standards; and of relevant new regulatory requirements
• Maintain stakeholder relationships with other assurance functions (e.g. Revenue Assurance and Internal Audit) and Subject Matter Experts
• Maintain sound relationships across all stakeholders
• Maintain relationships with assigned regulatory bodies, respond to enquiries by regulators/supervisory bodies and assist with regulatory reviews and inspections by regulators
Educational Qualifications and Related Experience:
• Degree in Law and/or Risk Management
• Post Graduate Diploma in Risk and Compliance Management will be an added advantage
• Professional certification in regulatory compliance will be an added advantage
• Membership of a related Professional body will be an added advantage
• Proficiency in mobile money regulations
• 2 to 3 years’ experience in Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management or similar environment
• Experience in telecommunications
Performance Contract:
Successful candidate shall be on three months’ probation period and if successful will sign an annual performance contract; the results thereof shall form the basis of the continued existence of substantive contract.
