REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS: STRENGTHENING CHILD PROTECTION THROUGH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY SIGNAGE AND EQUIPMENT
1. BACKGROUND
Child Protection and Welfare Act 20211, stipulates that it is the duty and responsibility of the State to formulate among others, policies which will ensure protection of children from any form of discrimination and to take positive action to promote their rights; and protect them from all forms of maltreatment by parents or others responsible for the care of the child and establish appropriate mechanisms for the prevention of abuse and the treatment of victims.
However, Lesotho continues to face significant challenges in ensuring the safety and protection of children across its schools and communities. Despite ongoing efforts by government and civil society organizations, many children remain vulnerable to abuse, neglect, and exploitation due to limited awareness and visibility of child protection mechanisms. Many communities and schools lack adequate awareness and resources to identify, prevent, and respond to child protection issues. The absence of clear, accessible information contributes to underreporting and limited community engagement in safeguarding children.
2. SCOPE OF WORK AND OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of this assignment is to install child protection information materials in selected schools and communities across the country. These materials aim to enhance awareness, promote safe environments for children, and ensure that community members and children are informed about child protection services and reporting channels.
