Land O’Lakes Venture37 (Venture37) invites proposals to conduct a Gender and Youth Inclusion (GYSI) Analysis for the 5-year Sustainable Transformation of Enterprises in the Poultry Sector (STEPS) project in Lesotho. STEPS is funded by USDA and led by Land O’Lakes Venture37, in partnership with the Rural Self-Help Development Association (RSDA), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), and World Poultry Foundation (WPF). STEPS will increase agricultural productivity for poultry producers in Lesotho through improved inputs, services, finance and market linkages. STEPS is also expanding the trade of poultry products locally through enterprise access to finance, quality inputs and consistent end markets. Through this work, STEPS aims to transform Lesotho’s poultry sector through private sector enhancements which will enable Basotho poultry sector actors to access Lesotho’s end markets, while improving will improve Lesotho’s food security and increasing market share.
The GYSI Analysis will identify the gender and age inequalities that exist within the poultry value chain in Lesotho and how they affect women and young people’s participation in and benefit from the poultry value chain. This analysis will then seek to identify the constraints and opportunities for women and youth to participate in STEPS’ activities and highlight actionable recommendations and strategies to increase the role of women and youth in the project activities to advance equality.
The assignment willlast from May 2024 – August 2024. Applicants are expected to have strong experience in conducting gender, youth and social inclusion assessments of similar scope, ideally with expertise in agriculture and livestock. Experience conducting assessments in Lesothoor the region is essential.
