We have an outstanding opportunity for a Research Manager in our Economic, Youth and Sustainable Development Directorate

Reporting to the Head of Social Policy Development, the Research Manger will contribute to the development of the Youth team’s strategic direction, especially as it pertains to strengthening youth policy and practice.  He/she will have responsibility for driving the thought leadership aspect of the youth work; design, implementation and management of pan-Commonwealth youth research protocols/guidelines including ethical standards; establish and maintain youth strategic research partnerships while maintaining communications with relevant stakeholders. 

The post-holder will supervise two Assistant Programme Officer, as well as external consultants and academics engaged to deliver key aspects of the research programme.  He/she will also liaise and collaborate with the Programmes Managers, Operations Officer and key staff from other Commonwealth Secretariat divisions/ directorates.

To be considered, you will need to have a post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as social sciences, youth development, international development or the humanities. Also required are: a professional qualification in a field such as youth work, community or international development, social or public administration. At least five years experience of working in a government or non-government organisation in a senior programme and/or research capacity, including management of research projects. In addition you will also have eight years’ experience in a field related to social research or policy development.
