Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following positions, tenable at the National Assembly.
Job Title: Reporting Assistant
Grade: D
Responsible To: Reporter

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Reporter, the Reporting Assistant is responsible for providing accurate first-draft transcripts of all proceedings of the National Assembly and its Committees.
Main Duties
- Audio recording of speeches, statements, and debates in both Sesotho and English.
- Transcribing parliamentary proceedings in both Sesotho and English.
- Ensuring safekeeping of recording equipment.
- Assisting with typing departmental correspondence during parliamentary breaks.
- Producing first draft transcripts of proceedings in the House and Committees.
- Typing translated Hansard copies during parliamentary recess.
Attributes
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work considerable overtime when required.
- Understanding of parliamentary procedures.
- Good keyboard and word processing skills.
Job Specification
- Diploma in Secretarial Studies from a recognized institution.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in use of recording equipment.
- Typing speed of 40 wpm.
- Audio typing speed of 100 wpm.
