Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position, tenable at the National Assembly.
Job Title: Reporting Assistant
Grade: D
Number of Positions: One (1)
Responsible To: Senior Reporter
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Reporter, the Reporting Assistant is responsible for providing accurate first-draft transcripts of all proceedings of the National Assembly and its Committees.
Main Duties
- Record speeches, statements, and debates from the Plenary and its Committees using audio recording equipment.
- Transcribe speeches, statements, and debates of the National Assembly and its Committees in both Sesotho and English.
- Ensure the safekeeping of equipment under his/her custody.
- Type translated copies of the Hansard.
Attributes
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Hard-working with a willingness to work considerable overtime for extended periods.
- Understanding of parliamentary procedures.
- Good keyboard and word processing skills.
Job Specifications
Applicants must possess:
- A Diploma in Secretarial Studies from a recognised institution.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in the use of recording equipment.
- Typing speed of 40 words per minute (wpm).
- Audio typing speed of 100 words per minute (wpm).
