Relation: reports to a Nursing Officer

Location : Primary Health Care Centre, (ART UNIT)

Job summary:

Under the supervision of Nursing Officer, the Registered Nurse Midwives in collaboration with other Health Professionals shall ensure accessibility of HIV care and treatment services to Patients. The Nurse shall manage the flow of HIV clinical services and establish smooth implementation of the ART services delivery within the facility.

Role and Responsibilities:

– Mentor other Health Care workers in provision of High-quality HIV prevention, care and treatment services,

– Supervise Nurse Assistant, Lay Counsellors, Student Nurses and other Staff deployed in the unit from partners (EGPAF, LENASO, Baylor etc.)

– Provide direct patient care to HIV positive patients in the ART Corner,

– Initiate all HIV infected patients diagnosed at the facility and community outreaches on ART as per the national ART guidelines.

– In close collaboration with the facility Medical Officer, ensure the provision of quality evidence-based ART,

– Screening for opportunistic infections and managing Clients with advanced HIV disease,

– Recommending 1st and 2nd line ART regimes for patients

– Ensure screening for TB is conducted for all people living with HIV (PLHIV) and Isoniazid preventive therapy is provided for PLHIV without TB,

– Effect monitoring of Lab test including viral load for patients on ART

– Establish and strengthen tacking of ART patients defaulting or lost from care,

– Compile monthly ART report and submit to the PHC Coordinator

– Ensure an accurate and timely documentation of all services is provided

– Attend PHC monthly Meetings

Requirements

– Diploma in both General Nursing and Midwifery

– At least 2 years’ work Experience in TB and HIV infection control and Management,

– Any qualification related to TB-HIV Management is added advantage

– Valid Nursing License from Lesotho Nursing Council is required
