Position Details
- Location: Remote (must be based in Africa)
- Type: Independent Contractor (Full‑time equivalent)
- Duration: 1 June – 31 December 2026 (7 months)
- Time Zones: Flexible (with some overlap for peer learning sessions)
- Compensation: USD $900 – $1,500 per month

Global Artivism is a Global Majority‑led movement that harnesses the power of arts and culture to advance justice, environmental sustainability, and collective liberation.
The movement connects artists, cultural workers, and activists across regions to build networks, amplify voices, and drive systemic change.

About the Role
Global Artivism is recruiting Regional Fellows (Africa) to help build and activate regional Artivist ecosystems in preparation for:
- Global Artivism Month (Oct/Nov 2026)
- Global Virtual Assembly
The role combines research, community engagement, and coordination, with a strong emphasis on local knowledge, relationships, and community activation.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Ecosystem Research
- Map artivism actors, cultural organisations, and networks
- Identify potential partners and contributors
- Analyse trends, themes, and key regional developments
- Document ecosystem insights and emerging movements
Regional Gatherings and Community Activation
- Convene regional Artivist gatherings (virtual and/or in‑person)
- Facilitate collaboration, peer learning, and network building
- Strengthen relationships with artists and community networks
- Document outcomes and share learnings
Research Documentation
- Produce structured outputs such as:
- Ecosystem briefs
- Landscape reports
- Actor profiles
- Maintain organised records of sources and findings
- Contribute to shared knowledge across regions
Campaign and Programme Support
- Feed regional insights into campaign planning
- Support identification of regional voices and stories
- Coordinate with the Global Artivism Month Specialist
- Brief teams on regional context and engagement strategies
Cross‑Regional Learning
- Participate in global peer learning exchanges
- Share insights and experiences across regions
- Contribute to collective knowledge and reflection
Required Qualifications
- Strong research and writing skills
- Deep community grounding in Africa’s artivism or cultural activism space
- Experience facilitating gatherings, workshops, or community meetings
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Good written communication in English
- Commitment to Global Artivism values and mission
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing networks within African cultural or activist spaces
- Experience mobilising communities or building movements
- Background in social movement research or cultural mapping
- Interest in cross‑regional collaboration and knowledge exchange
- Prior engagement with Global Artivism initiatives
Work Arrangement
- Flexible schedule determined by the contractor
- Participation in scheduled global meetings required
- Contractor responsible for own tax, compliance, and registration
