Scope of responsibility

The Customer Service & Logistics Manager has responsibility for providing collaborative end to end Customer Service and Logistics solutions that leverage joint capabilities and expertise in support of Colgate’s customer development and Customer Service & Logistics strategies.

He/she facilitates the Colgate Business Planning (CBP) process.

The Customer Service & Logistics Manager is responsible for delivering excellent service to the customers, and overseeing and driving efficiencies in the order to cash process, regional warehousing & logistics, working capital and business simplification.

The Customer Service & Logistics Manager contributes to the on-going development of best practices across the organization and ensures that collaborative initiatives are agreed, developed and executed with excellence.

The Customer Service and Logistics manager is the single point of contact for the cluster General Managers in term of Customer Services & Logistics decision making and responsibility.

This role has TWO direct reports, a Demand Planner and a Logistics Manager which falls within the overall scope of the CS & L Manager’s team, and are responsible for delivering the following scope of activities:


Demand planning, via CBP

  • Ensure and Manage monthly demand planning process for the region. Ensure demand plans are submitted per hub timeline and accurately entered into SAP APO Demand Planning Module. Ensure demand planning accuracy cause analysis and drive continuous improvement of Demand Planning results.
  • Deliver Key CS&L KPI’s for the region: Demand Planning Accuracy/Bias, Inventory
  • Active management and participation in Demand Planning both internally and with customers to ensure timely execution by the customer and fulfillment by Colgate-Palmolive at the lowest possible total delivered cost


Customer Collaboration

  • Collaborate with customers to support joint planning (demand planning, secondary sales forecasting, promotion planning, etc) using available customer data. Communicate any Supply chain issues or constraints which will impact customer plans in the specified markets.
  • Seek opportunities for simplification by managing sku’s and driving rationalization/harmonization initiatives. Ensure timely maintenance of SKU portfolio.
  • Collaborates with customers to identify process and execution improvements to minimize Out of Stock, reduce complexity and decrease costs.


Customer Service & Order Fulfillment

  • Monitor performance metrics (KPI’s) to understand service and efficiency trends within assigned customers and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Shares performance information with local management team, divisional CS&L and customers to develop collaborative approaches to correct inefficient behaviors or fix system disconnects/failures.
  • Identify root causes of customer supply chain inefficiencies and Out of Stocks (OOS). Facilitate solutions with local & divisional resources as well as customers.
  • Support the enforcement of Commercial Terms & Conditions with the customer(s) and identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiencies.
  • Management of customer orders from generation through to cash collection and settlement.
  • Has a team member responsible for order processing.


Integrated Demand Driven Supply & Funding the Growth

  • Collaborate with local team, customers, and division to deliver Funding the Growth savings across all areas of Customer Service & Logistics.


Management of one Colgate Warehouse in the region – Inventory & Cost

  • Manage local warehousing & distribution costs to budget.
  • Understands how Logistics activities and decisions impact the P&L and cash generation.


Required level of education

  • Undergraduate business/logistics degree or equivalent qualification.

  • +7 Years FMCG Demand / Inventory / Logistics / Operations / People Management

Essential skills/attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken), in the English language
  • Some experience in two of the three functional experience eg: worked as a Demand Planner or a Logistics Manager in their past experience.
  • Customer service orientation
  • Assertive & confident with the ability to negotiate with third parties
  • Strong Computer Skills – SAP, Excel and Power Point.
  • Understands the SKU’s and customer hierarchies (including ABC)
  • Demonstrates urgency in resolving challenges & driving opportunities
  • Has the capability to work well across internal teams. eg Finance, Supply Chain
  • Has a small team of direct reports, so would need to manage people
