Regional Control Centre Controller In the Engineering Division

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Lesotho Nationals for the above-mentioned position. The position is tenable at LEC Headquarters in Maseru and the incumbent will report to the Regional Control Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage

EXPERIENCE PROGRESSION & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• 2 years working experience in the electrical power system
• Experience in electrical power system control and operations environment will be an added advantage
• The job requires a candidate who can work well under pressure, and who adjusts quickly to change
• Flexibility and productive in times of continuing change and high stress
• Good analytical thinker, able to gather data, determine and take a course of action after identifying possible consequences.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Computer literacy and report writing skills are essential
• Methodical and disciplined approach to work
• Excellent interpersonal and people skills
• Drivers License is an essential requirement

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

• Monitoring the status of the regional electrical distribution network at all times in order to immediately identify any abnormal operating and equipment conditions.
• Controlling operations of the national electrical distribution.
• Accurately logging down all network operations and the operational system using applicable journals and control system tools.
• Dispatching faults to maintenance and faults teams and all other relevant stakeholders.
• Recording network readings when required.
• Continuously updating the Operating 11kV system Single Line Diagram in the Control Room.
• Providing feedback to the Regional Control Supervisor on the performance of the network on daily basis.
• Performing effective handover of shifts during shift changes.
• Identify and recommend changes to improve overall plant reliability, performance and output
• Issuing switching operational instructions to engineers during outages in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
