Purpose of the Job

To provide recruitment and onboarding support while ensuring the effective implementation of work plans and daily human resources activities.

Main Functions

  • Assist in following up on the activities of the division.
  • Support the implementation of programmes, policies, and procedures within the division.
  • Conduct analyses and prepare accurate reports for internal use.
  • Support senior officers in implementing relevant HR policies.
  • Participate in organising meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
  • Support the promotion of division activities by preparing leaflets, guidelines, and fact sheets.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and develop standard operating procedures, policies, guidelines, and recruitment tools for shortlisting, interviewing, and staff selection.
  • Monitor and evaluate HR policies, recruitment guidelines, and procedures, and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Support the development and implementation of the annual recruitment plan.
  • Ensure compliance with AU recruitment policies, staff regulations, and procedures throughout the recruitment process.
  • Draft job advertisements in consultation with hiring managers and HR Business Partners, ensuring responsibilities and evaluation criteria align with approved job descriptions.
  • Publish vacancies on the African Union website and official social media platforms.
  • Monitor vacancy announcements and applications to ensure timely recruitment.
  • Coordinate shortlisting and interview activities using SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Participate in recruitment activities and provide support to interview panels and candidates.
  • Prepare appointment approvals, generate employment contracts in SAP, and issue job offers to successful candidates.
  • Perform other human resources duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.

  • Proficiency in one African Union official working language (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, or Arabic). Fluency in another AU language is an added advantage.

Contract Duration

The appointment will be on a regular three (3)-year contract. The first twelve (12) months will serve as a probationary period, followed by a renewable two-year contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Remuneration

Indicative basic salary of US$25,523.00 per annum (P1 Step 1), plus applicable benefits, including:

  • Post adjustment (57% of basic salary)
  • Housing allowance of US$16,813.44 per annum
  • Education allowance for eligible dependents in accordance with AU regulations
