Overview:

The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment, and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.

Lesotho/Local Entities Advancing and Driving Health Responses (LEADR) is a proposed multi-year project funded by USAID intended to provide effective decentralized, differentiated, and integrated facility and community services to maximize equitable access to comprehensive HIV, TB, and COVID-19 interventions through a primary health care approach to ensure that clients have access to holistic services. Its goal is to support the Government of Lesotho to deliver high-quality integrated prevention, care and treatment services that will sustain the reduction in HIV, TB, and COVID-19 transmission, morbidity, and mortality in Lesotho through the implementation of a comprehensive, person-centered approach. If awarded to BCMCFL, the project will be implemented in Butha Buthe and Mokhotlong districts and at the BCMCFL Maseru Centre of Excellence (COE) and Mohale’s Hoek Satellite Center of Excellence (SCOE).

BCMCFL is looking for qualified candidates to fill in the following positions available on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.

Position: Records Assistant *1 – Based in Mokhotlong Linakaneng Health Centre

Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview:

Reporting to the M&E Officer, in collaboration with other program and MoH site level and community level personnel, the Record Assistant will be responsible for data collection and reporting activities including supporting the uptake and utilization of the MoH DHIS2 reporting app and the scale-up and utilization of the MoH electronic medical records system (e-Register).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain a filing system of the Health Centre’s Chronic Care/ART patient cards and/or other documents related to the HIV program;
  • Daily pull out and re-file Chronic Care/Art cards of patients scheduled to come for services on the day;
  • Insert all relevant documents and forms in the Chronic Care/ART patients’ cards in accordance with the health facility’s requirements;
  • Working in collaboration with the health facility Clinician(s), update the HIV, Cervical cancer, GBV and TB program registers ensuring completeness of the required information;
  • Working in collaboration with the health facility Data Clerk, support the health facility to accurately compile its monthly reports;
  • Submit monthly (or as required) the health facility’s performance reports;
  • Coordinate health facility quarterly data reviews;
  • Coordinate quarterly data verification of all the reported data;
  • Pull out charts as needed for special reviews;
  • Review of records and registers when needed;
  • Always ensure safe storage and strict confidentiality of all patient’s records/data at all times;
  • Perform other duties that are assigned by the administration.

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

  • Diploma in Statistics/Demography or any other related relevant field
  • At least 2 years’ experience, training in keeping medical records is an added advantage
  • Computer skills in Microsoft excel is required
