Responsible to: Senior Recorder
Job Summary
Under the close direct supervision of the Senior Recorder, the Recorder is responsible for recording, transcribing and typing court proceedings.
Main Duties
- Record proceedings in court to ensure maintenance of a true record of all proceedings before the court and ensure availability when required.
- Transcribe and type records of proceedings, particularly when a case has been taken up for review or appeal.
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Secretarial Studies; OR
- Cambridge School Certificate (C.O.S.C) plus two years’ relevant work experience.
Other Necessary Knowledge
- Operation of recording equipment.
Skills and Requirements
The incumbent must be able to maintain recording machines, transcribers, computers and office furniture in the recording section.
The position requires a high level of concentration during court proceedings and transcription, including simultaneous typing and listening to recordings.
