Position: Reconciliations Manager – SEFS
Department: Sasai Econet Financial Services (SEFS)
Reports To: Finance Manager – Operations (SEFS)
Main Purpose
To oversee and manage the end-to-end reconciliation processes across all SEFS financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting the company’s rapid growth and innovation in the fintech space.
Major Tasks
- Develop SEFS Reconciliation Annual Operating Plans
- Devolve the annual plans into weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans and inform subordinates
- Develop and implement reconciliation frameworks, policies, and processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
- Monitor adherence to frameworks, policies, and processes
- Prepare weekly and monthly Heatmap reports
- Prepare monthly action plans to address any discrepancies or anomalies
- Identify and facilitate resolution of discrepancies and variances between Banks and EcoCash system integrations by liaising with the technical team
- Lead and manage the reconciliation team, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of all financial transactions (e.g., payments, collections, bank statements, digital wallets, and third-party platforms)
- Agree medium- and short-term objectives, develop a work plan, and ensure execution
- Coach and/or arrange training for staff in understanding departmental procedures
Educational Qualifications and Related Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
- CIMA or CA will be an added advantage
- 4 to 6 years’ experience in financial reconciliation, preferably within fintech, banking, or similar environment
- At least 2 years’ experience in a managerial position
Knowledge Areas & Competencies
- Strong understanding of payment systems, digital wallets, and financial transaction flows
- Proficiency in reconciliation tools, Excel, and financial systems
- Experience with automation tools and data analytics is a plus
- High attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
