Description

Contract Type: Fixed term

Duration: 12 months

The RAN Engineer shall report to the RAN Manager and shall be responsible to ensure proper running of Vodacom Lesotho Base Station Subsystem (BSS) and associated transmission, power, alarm monitoring for the north region , as well as ensure base stations compliance to  group standards and policies.

Job Responsibility

  • Planning and developing application for improved remote management systems
  • Automation, gathering all recurring alarms and develop robots for auto clearing
  • Planning power upgrades based on future and current fit for growth requirements, organizational goals, and technology strategy to meet KPI targets.
  • Energy efficiency – Commissioning of SON master for improved power features auto configurations 
  • Dimensioning of the Vodacom energy systems based on current requirements and forecasted future trends.
  • Analyse radio alarm history and develop robots to clear all recurring radio alarms
  • Analyse power alarms history and develop robots to clear all recurring power alarm.
  • Implementation and digitizing power projects in accordance with specified plans and within the agreed timelines
  • Control faults handling in BSS and transmission network and manage escalation thereof.
  • Maintain proper environment in the BTS rooms through the BSS personnel.
  • Support NQ with all relevant alarms to improve the network quality
  • Undertake capacity upgrades on BSS, Transmission and Power systems.
  • Schedule and manage commissioning of new sites.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years in telecommunications is desirable
