QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (QAS)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) in the Department of Development Planning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Under the direct supervision of the Director Development Planning (DDP), QAS
provides strategic leadership in quality assurance in all matters related to academic practices and support services in the National University of Lesotho. S/He acts as a source of professional knowledge of higher education regulations and good practice in the enhancement of academic quality and standards, collaborative engagement
and continuous improvement of academic practices, in line with the University Strategic Plan, the requirements of the Council on Higher

Education, and international trends.
-A minimum of a Master’s Degree incorporating Monitoring and Evaluation (a specialisation in Educational Management and/or Quality Management will be an
added advantage).

Experience: Minimum 3 years related work experience in Quality Assurance, Accreditation and Institutional Evaluation in Higher Education with a successful track record of managing institutional data and conducting research. A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate substantial specialist knowledge of QA best practices, the national and regional regulatory landscape, and accreditation processes in higher education. Extensive experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods and familiarity with data analysis software packages is essential.

Key Competencies:
• Providing leadership in the development, implementation and review of the University Policies and Procedures related to Quality Assurance.
• Facilitating the development and periodic review of new and existing
programmes in line with national, regional and international trends and
policy directions.
• Coordinating the development, facilitation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and review of the Support Services Quality Assurance Mechanisms.
• Facilitating Institutional compliance towards the Higher Education Act and
related national and regional higher education policies and initiatives.
• Liaising with both internal and external statutory organisations/bodies such
as Faculties, Departments, the Academic Planning Committee, Senate and
its Committees, Council on Higher Education and other professional bodies on relevant matters.
• Coordinating with and advising partner institutions on programme design,
assessment, and periodic programme monitoring and evaluation arising from internal and external requirements for compliance and continuous improvement.
• Developing instruments and ccoordinating institutional surveys relating to Institutional quality.
