Lesotho Electricity Generation Company (LEGCO) is a statutory body registered under Companies Act of 2011 registration number 70536 to manage electricity generation in Lesotho. The mandate of LEGCO is to ensure that Lesotho is self-sufficient in its power supply, starting with solar generation plant at Ha-Ramarothole. To ensure that base load requirements are met through local generation and to enhance the participation of the private sector in electricity supply industry. LEGCO invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions on a fixed term contract;

JOB TITTLE: Public Relations Officer


Under Direct Supervision of Chief Executive Officer, Public Relations Officer shall perform the following duties:

• Prepares Communication Policy and Communication Strategic Plan for the company together with the associated Implementation Plan and Action Plan.

• Increase the visibility of Lesotho Electricity Generation Company (LEGCO)

• Informs the nation about LEGCO objectives, principles, operational procedures and operative structure using appropriate and diverse media and communication platforms.

• Developing promotional campaigns for Lesotho Electricity Generation Company.

• Designing production of LEGCO visual communications and digital content.

• Writing and producing presentations, articles, press releases, and social media posts.

• Designing or managing the production of visual communications and digital content that update information about LEGCO.

• Ensures that the company website is active with up-to-date information and data.

• Dealing with enquiries from the public, the press and related organisations.

• Organising and attending promotional events such as press conferences, open days, exhibitions, tours and visits.

• Speaking publicly at interviews, press conferences, public gatherings and provides presentations.

• Providing clients/colleagues with information about new promotional opportunities and current Public Relations campaigns’ progress.

• Analysing media coverage and collect feedback from the public through use of questionnaires

• Prepares LEGCO documents such as monthly/quarterly/annual reports.

• Commissioning or undertaking relevant market research and data analysis.

• Coordinating and analysing the success of online advertising.

• Keeping records of progress, budgets and timescales, and keeping clients/colleagues up to date with these.

• Design and develops regular pamphlets, brochures of bulletins, press releases that consistently update the public on LEGCO activities.

• Keeping records of progress on all LEGCO activities, taking pictures and or videos.

• Interact with communities and address all their grievances

Qualifications and Experience

The incumbent must have a Masters Degree in Communications or Public Relations or Journalism or Marketing plus a minimum of five (5) years working experience


Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or Public Relations or Journalism or Marketing plus a minimum of Seven (7) years working experience

Knowledge and skills required for the position:

• Excellent interpersonal and Presentation skills.

• The ability to prioritise and plan effectively.

• Digital media skills, such as graphic design, video editing and blog administration.

• Social media management experience.
