The Lesotho Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) invites applications from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position:
Job Title: Public Relations Manager
Reports To: Chief Executive
Purpose of the Role
To promote, educate, and disseminate information related to the organisation through the media and public gatherings in order to create a positive and acceptable image of the company to the public.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and Maintain Corporate Communication Strategies and Policies
- Develop and implement corporate communication strategies aligned with the company’s vision, mission, and objectives
- Review and maintain communication policies to ensure relevance and effectiveness
- Ensure communication activities support organisational strategic goals
2. Manage Company Publications and Information Dissemination
- Monitor the compilation and distribution of company publications such as the Annual Report
- Disseminate information relating to water usage to the public using appropriate communication channels
- Ensure information shared with stakeholders is accurate, timely, and audience-appropriate
3. Oversee Corporate Communications and Branding
- Manage overall corporate communication activities
- Coordinate corporate branding and marketing initiatives
- Promote and maintain a positive image of the company
4. Manage Stakeholder and Media Relations
- Create and maintain meaningful networks with key stakeholders
- Maintain good relations with media houses and journalists
- Guide, recommend, and organise press conferences
- Represent and promote a positive company image to clients, stakeholders, and the community
5. Support Executive Communication Activities
- Guide the development of speeches for the Executive team
- Act proactively as the company spokesperson on operational matters
- Provide communication support during company events and public engagements
6. Manage Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives
- Proactively manage the corporate social responsibility function of the organisation
- Promote company participation in community development initiatives
- Ensure CSR activities enhance the company’s reputation and stakeholder relations
7. Prepare Reports and Monitor Sectional Activities
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on activities undertaken
- Monitor implementation of sectional activities against divisional initiatives
- Provide reports for accountability, performance monitoring, and management decision-making

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
