for the following position tenable in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry:
Position: Public Relations Manager
Grade: I
No. of Positions: One (1)
Department: Information
Responsible To: Director Public Relations
MAIN DUTIES
1. TO UNDERTAKE PUBLIC RELATIONS RESEARCH TO INFORM POLICY
1.1 To participate in research consultations and study tours
1.2 To analyse documents (policies, plans) and all information gathered during consultations and study tours
1.3 To draft reports on the consultations and study tour findings
2. TO DESIGN AND DEVELOP PUBLIC RELATIONS POLICIES AND GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION STRATEGY
2.1 To conduct government public relations cadre needs assessment survey
2.2 To conduct stakeholder analysis and mapping
2.3 To facilitate workshops on public relations policy and communication strategy development
2.4 To compile public relations policy and communication strategy drafts
2.5 To compile reports on public relations policy and communication strategy development workshops
3. TO MANAGE IMPLEMENTATION OF PUBLIC RELATIONS POLICIES AND GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION STRATEGY
3.1 To participate in the sensitisation of all public relations officers about public relations policies and government communication strategy
3.2 To plan the implementation of public relations policies and government communication strategy
4. TO COORDINATE ALL GOVERNMENT PUBLIC RELATIONS ACTIVITIES
4.1 To develop an M&E Plan for implementation of public relations policies and government communication strategy
4.2 To routinely monitor progress and compile reports
4.3 To evaluate policy impact and compile reports
4.4 To coordinate planning of public relations activities in line ministries
4.5 To arrange ministries’ public relations meetings and events
JOB SPECIFICATION
- Master’s Degree in Public Relations OR Communications OR Media Studies and a minimum of 6 years working experience in public relations, including at least 2 years as a Senior Public Relations Officer
OR - Honours or Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations OR Communications OR Media Studies and 8 years working experience in public relations, including at least 4 years as a Senior Public Relations Officer
