NICRO, which regards crime as a threat to democracy, good governance and individual rights, is the only NGO providing comprehensive, holistic crime reduction and crime prevention services nationally.

Nicro seeks to appoint a Public Relations and Advocacy Manager  to be based in Western Cape.

The purpose of the employee is to apply their knowledge and expertise at influencing policy, laws, regulations, program or funding decision made at the upper-most levels of public or private institutions in alignment with NICRO’ s strategic objectives.

Key focus areas:
To lead in partnership with the CEO; the development, implementation and monitoring of the organization’s advocacy priorities and specifically lead on assigned advocacy objectives
To co-ordinate the advocacy objectives on a day-to-day basis with the line-management to of service delivers in the provinces
In partnership with the CEO in overseeing the development and implementation of the organization’s advocacy strategy, including the advocacy components of the Logical Framework and the organizational monitoring and evaluation approach.
Responsibilities involve:
Planning for advocacy towards improved policy, legislation and practice in crime prevention and offender reintegration in alignment of NICRO’ s strategic objectives
Undertake parliamentary lobbying on behalf of NICRO
Partnership development, alliance building and represent NICRO in key networks and forums at local, national, regional and international levels
Marketing and Media Liaison
Minimum Requirments, Qualification and Experience:
Degree in Political Science or Law with a focus on human rights, peace building and security or a related field
At least three years’ experience in programme advancing, sustainable development, social justice, peace building, conflict transformation and human rights through advocacy, community organising, social mobilisation, litigation, research or public policy work
Knowledge of contemporary South African and continental human rights, peace and security and political events
Policy development and analysis knowledge
