Public Health Officer (1 Position)

Job Purpose
The Public Health Officer will be responsible for promoting and protecting public health through surveillance, disease prevention, environmental health inspections, water quality surveillance, sanitation monitoring, health education, and implementation of public health programmes.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct public health surveillance and risk assessments.
• Monitor drinking water quality and sanitation services.
• Investigate disease outbreaks and environmental health incidents.
• Conduct inspections of water supply systems, sanitation facilities, food premises, and public facilities.
• Implement public health awareness and health promotion campaigns.
• Support implementation of Water Safety Plans and Water Quality Surveillance programmes.
• Collect, analyse, and interpret public health and environmental health data.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with public health legislation and regulations.
• Coordinate with municipalities, healthcare facilities, laboratories, and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Assist in developing public health policies, guidelines, and operational procedures.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Environmental Science, or a related qualification.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work experience in public health, environmental health, disease surveillance, water quality surveillance, sanitation, or related fields.
• Knowledge of public health legislation, disease surveillance systems, and environmental health principles.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office. Applicants must have access to a computer.
• Valid driver’s licence.
