Position:                   Psychosocial Support Officer:  In-School and Out-of-School Adolescent Girls and Young Woman (AGYW) and Adolescent Boys Young Man (ABYM).
Reports To:              Project Manager
Contract Duration:  Fixed Term contract ending 31 March 2022

Isibani Development Partners is a South African-registered NGO, launched in 2011 to become a leading local technical assistance provider, systems strengthening and grants manager for health and social service in Southern Africa. Our programs focus is on HIV, TB, Non-Communicable diseases and Capacity development for community-based organization and government departments.  Isibani seeks to appoint Psychosocial Support Officer (AGYW and ABYM project) to be based in Empangeni – uMhlathuze Sub-District. 

Job Overview: Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Psychosocial Support Officer: In-School and Out-of-School AGYW and ABYM Program will coordinate and deliver psychosocial support services to the AGYW and ABYM project in Umhlathuze Sub-District. This involves the provision of individualised psychosocial assessment, identifying level of needs/risk for the beneficiaries, planning, reviewing processes and delivering the psycho-social content of AGYW and ABYM program. This incumbent will work closely with the Auxiliaries Social Workers providing support to team where necessary. S/he will support and guide in the formation of support groups, Awareness’s, and Economic strengthening.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Respond to and the psychosocial needs of young people, including at times of grief and loss.
Work with young people to establish support plans that are focused on achieving their own self-directed goal.
Provide on- going individual support to help young people engage with appropriate support in accordance with their needs.
 Ensure that referrals are made to suitable resources.  
Monitor and respond to the individualized needs of young people attending the program.
Work with the Psychosocial team to identify and participate in appropriate development.
Design, facilitate and evaluate the psychosocial components of the program (i.e., discussion groups/reflections).
Awareness Campaigns on mental health challenges.
Group therapy and individual counselling for employees/staff.
Competencies
Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for all clients.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of issues affecting young people including Gender Base Violence (GBV).
Positive and professional attitude.
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Social Work.
Good knowledge of the area and local customs.
Excellent communication skills written and oral.
Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations.
Ability to work to work in a team.
Experience of working in Global Fund, PEPFAR or other AGYW or ABYM projects would be an added advantage.

Community outreach and office based.
