PSYCHOLOGIST – VITAL trial/ComBaCaL Project

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual to provide mental health expertise and support both research projects in planning and implementation. The Psychologist will work in collaboration with the SolidarMed team, DHMT, national and international VITAL and ComBaCaL partners and Stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute actively to training manuals and e-applications for health care workers
  • Organize, coordinate, and implement mental health trainings for health care workers at facilities
  • Supervise health care workers delivering mental health assessments
  • Mobilize and sensitize health facilities on mental health matters
  • Support the planning, implementation, and reporting of specific mental health related components of the VITAL trial and the ComBaCaL research project
  • Ensure good quality mental health data collection within VITAL and ComBaCaL
  • Serve as a mental health focal point within SolidarMed
  • Provide trainings to non-specialized health service providers on mental health
  • Collaborate with SolidarMed teams and other relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate mental health treatment
  • Contribute mental health expertise and support to any other research project of SolidarMed

 Skills and Required Competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in providing clinical psychosocial services e.g., providing therapy, assessment, case management;
  • Experience conducting suicidal assessments and/or working with suicidal patients is preferred;
  • Effective communication, good coordination and strong work ethic including honesty and high level of integrity
  • Ability to work in clinical and community health contexts
  • Able to work under pressure, to pay attention to detail and to work in a multi-national team
  • Able to work with non-mental health specialists.
  • Willing to learn new clinical techniques and approaches and effectively train other health care providers in such approaches.
  • Sound computer literacy and report writing skills
  • Positive overview of the work environment, willingness to travel to other SolidarMed sites on a regular basis
  • Interested in clinical and implementation research

Qualifications – Minimum Degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
