The National and Provincial Departments of Health are currently have been delivering the COVID-19 vaccination programme to the general public since May 2021. A number of donors (including the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Endowment, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, DG Murray Trust, ELMA Vaccines & Immunization Foundation, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and the Solidarity Fund) have pooled resources to strengthen planning and implementation capacity within provinces and districts. DGMT is leading the coordinated donor support process to the NDoH. 
Based remotely, DGMT seeks to appoint public health specialist as

PROVINCIAL OUTREACH VACCINATION SITE COORDINATOR

The incumbent will support provinces with the expansion of their outreach vaccination programme through donor-funded vaccination capacity. Using their public health experience, they will contribute to national and provincial outreach site strategies through the collaborative development and execution of provincial outreach plans. These plans may include large/mass sites in metro areas, as well as temporary and mobile (pop-up/roving) sites across urban, peri-urban and rural areas.

The role requires strong partnership and stakeholder management across district, provincial and national Department of Health representatives, Clinical Operators (NGO, public and private sector vaccination teams), venue management teams and donors.

The Provincial Outreach Vaccination Site Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
Work with Outreach Programme leadership and provincial DoH teams to develop outreach site strategies and project plans that meet the unique needs of different provinces
Work with provincial teams on Clinical Operator selection
Work with provincial teams to identify preferred outreach sites in areas of demonstrated need (vaccination capacity gap)
Liaise with Retailers and other venue management to gain approval for preferred sites
Oversee relationship between provincial/district teams and Clinical Operators
Ensure Clinical Operators are meeting all provincial and district level clinical and vaccine transport requirements
Ensure provincial and district level supply of vaccines
Ensure district pharmacies are prepared to distribute vaccines to Clinical Operators and logistics are understood by all parties
Ensure all IT requirements are met to enable recording of vaccinations at Outreach sites
Ensure Clinical Operators prepared for vaccination services through additional training and site visits, as needed
Assist with demand creation/marketing for each site
Oversee daily tracking of vaccinations at each site and monitoring and evaluation of performance
Liaise with provincial DoH and donor on site performance
Serve as primary point of contact for all partners supporting Outreach sites
The Provincial Outreach Vaccination Site Coordinator must meet the following criteria:
Experience scaling public health programmes
Knowledge of/experience working with National and Provincial Departments of Health
A clear MIE background check is required before the start of employment. Must be legally eligible to work full time in South Africa.
