The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration of one year with good prospects of extension.
The position is home-based, with the applicable national employment conditions and salary determined by the employee’s country of residence.
As Proposal Development Manager, you coordinate the development of high-quality, competitive funding proposals for selected strategic and financially significant opportunities. You ensure that proposals are responsive to identified needs, aligned with Welthungerhilfe’s strategy and country priorities, and fully compliant with donor requirements and internal quality standards.
As part of Welthungerhilfe’s Flexible Management Support (FMS) team, you provide proposal development expertise to Country Offices based on specific assignments and Terms of Reference. You are able to integrate quickly into existing teams and processes and provide effective support at short notice.
Your responsibilities
- Coordinate the development and writing of high-quality concept notes and full project proposals in response to specific donor opportunities.
- Support and, where required, organize needs assessments and field-level analyses as a basis for project design, involving local partner organizations, other NGOs and relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate needs- and impact-oriented project design in line with Welthungerhilfe’s strategy, relevant country strategies and donor priorities.
- Translate technical inputs, assessments and strategic priorities into coherent and compelling project concepts and proposals.
- Ensure that proposals are developed in accordance with relevant donor requirements, strategies and guidelines.
- Assess the feasibility and overall coherence of proposed interventions by critically reviewing assumptions, risks, implementation approaches and relevant contextual factors
- Coordinate the proposal development process and required contributions to ensure complete, high-quality proposals are submitted on time.
Your profile
- A university degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of professional qualifications and relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating proposal development processes, including managing inputs from technical experts, partners and other relevant stakeholders under tight deadlines.
- Strong experience in developing concept notes and full project proposals for institutional donors, including working with donor-specific requirements and guidelines.
- Sound knowledge of project design and proposal development, including needs assessments, intervention logic, feasibility and risk analysis.
- Technical expertise in at least one of Welthungerhilfe’s relevant thematic areas and the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new country contexts and programmatic topics.
- Strong analytical, writing and coordination skills, with the ability to turn technical inputs and complex information into clear and compelling proposals.
- You recognize the growing value of data in proposal development and project design and are eager to strengthen your skills in incorporating data-informed approaches into your work.
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, local partner organizations and other stakeholders across different country contexts.
- Excellent written and spoken English is required; a strong command of French is a great asset.
