PROJECTS HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER (PATERSON BAND CU)
Letšeng seeks to engage a qualified Mosotho professional with appropriate skills and aptitude to fill the position of Projects Health & Safety Officer (Paterson Band CU).

PURPOSE: To guide projects to implement the HSE Management Systems, adopt policies, standards and practices to achieve zero harm to people and property and minimise environmental impact and enforce compliance with HSE standards and rules.

MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Guide the process to prepare and implement construction health, safety and environment plans and programmes
• Conduct inspections and audits to identity at-risk conditions and at-risk behaviour and enforce compliance with the project’s and Letšeng mine’s HSE standards and rules
• Guide baseline and issue-based risk assessments reviews
• Review quality of continuous risks assessments and coach line management and employees accordingly
• Attend project planning meetings and facilitate construction project site HSE meetings and prepare reports for submission to the mine
• Conduct construction project site-specific inductions and basic HSE training
Oversee reporting of incidents and generate management information
• Guide management of incidents and corrective actions and facilitate incident investigations
• Compile project-specific emergency preparedness and response plans and test effectiveness thereof
• Oversee and support communication of HSE information

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Degree in Health and Safety plus a minimum of three (3) years of working experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the mining or construction industry or
• Diploma in a technical field plus relevant training in health and safety courses and a minimum of five (5) years of working experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the mining or construction industry

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Sound knowledge and practical experience in HSE system implementation and auditing
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the mining industry and the risks involved
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the health and work methods and techniques applied in the execution of outputs

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Candidates will be required to undergo the medical examination of fitness as per the requirements
• Registered with the Ministry of Labour and Employment as a Safety and Health Practitioner

TERMS & CONDITIONS
• The position is a 24-month fixed-term contract based on-site
