JOB PURPOSE:

Save the Children South Africa (SCSA) works with children and their families in some of the nation’s most marginalised communities. SCSA is at the forefront of saving children’s lives and creating lasting change for children and their families, reaching over 100,000 children directly and over a million children indirectly annually through child rights, health and nutrition, child protection and education programmes.

In 2020, SCSA will implement the Happy Living and Learning Project 2.0 in ECD centres in Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, and Limpopo over a two-year period. The Project Training Officer will have primary responsibility to for the facilitation of all training for ECD practitioners, supervisors and caregivers in health, education, child protection and child rights and governance. The HLL 2.0 Training Officer will support mentoring to enrolled ECD sites to ensure skills transfer. S/he will also assist with liaison and logistics involving key stakeholders, partners, and service-providers; as well as serve as secretariat to the project.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Undertake implementation of all project activities and primarily training packages in all three provinces
Provide training to Community Change Agents (CCA) on SCSA Training Packages for ECD
Support mentoring to ECD practitioners on implementation of knowledge from trainings, assist with norms and standards and health & safety protocols of ECDs
Provide site level monitoring and tracking of indictors
Organize and coordinate relevant project training materials as required
Facilitate and coordinate various ECD workshops and trainings required
Coordinate the distribution of materials and supplies to the ECD Centres and forums
Assist the team to compile and maintain a database of service providers for the municipalities where the ECD Centres are based
Assist in collecting data and information and in organizing/drafting project management reports
Provide project administrative and logistical support
Any other duties of similar nature as required by the Programme or Provincial Manager

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Post-matriculation diploma/degree or equivalent qualification in Child Care, Early Childhood Development, Public administration, or Business administration
2 years’ work experience in project implementation and mentoring
Hands-on experience on project administration, coordination, training, activity and field-work planning, progress monitoring, and weekly reporting.
Excellent language proficiency in English and isiZulu/SiSwati/SeSotho/Sepedi/Tswana
Fully computer literate – internet, e-mail, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Proficiency with English and one other relevant local language
Experience working within an NGO
Current Driving licence
