We have an outstanding opportunity for a Project Officer in our Economic, Youth and Sustainable Development Directorate.

Reporting to the Education Adviser, the Project Officer will contribute towards providing operational support for the 21st Conference of Commonwealth Ministers of Education (21CCEM) scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya between 1-5 March 2021.

The Project Officer is expected to provide operational support on the following:

  • Follow-up on actions noted in the Nadi Declaration and Nadi Declaration Action Plan and prepare a progress report for 21CCEM.
  • Assist with 21CCEM preparations (operational aspects).
  • Provide support to the Project Manager on the delivery and coordination of the parallel forums.

In addition to providing operational support as above, the responsibilities encompassed in this role includes (but are not limited to):

  • Follow up on the outcomes and mandates of the 20CCEM and integrate relevant outcomes into the report for 21CCEM.
  • Support the follow-up process on the Nadi Declaration Action Plan, which will also include assisting with drafting the report on the Education Section’s activities and achievements over the period 2018 – 2021.
  • Liaise, communicate and support countries and senior officials from member states attending the Senior Officials Meeting, Small States Meeting, Education Ministers Action Group at the 21CCEM.
  • Conduct desk research and data analysis as needed to draft material on selected educational themes for background papers topics.
  • Assist with the development of the programme of events and relevant sessions for the 21CCEM, coordination with member states, speakers and delegates and other operational aspects of the meeting.

This assignment will be over the period of May 2020 to March 2021.

To be considered, you will need to have attained a post-graduate degree in Education, Public Administration, Development Studies, or any relevant Social Science discipline. At least three years’ experience of working in/with international development organisations.
