TEAM PURPOSE:

To support the coordination and delivery of advocacy, policy engagement and research for OZA’s Global Impact Programme. Key programming areas include sustainable development, with emphasis on development finance, gender and good governance. The programme plays an important role in Oxfam’s programme globally on engaging with International Finance Institutions (IFIs), including the role of IFIs in making a positive contribution to reducing economic inequality, and improving gender justice and civic space at the national level. Engaging at community level is an important aspect of the programme towards ensuring that people, especially women raise concerns and engage on environmental and social impacts of IFI operations for improved development outcomes in South Africa and in the region. The programme also focuses on civil society engagement in South Africa’s role in the region, the Global South and internationally.

JOB PURPOSE

The role of the Project Officer is to assist in all areas related to the GI project, which includes support in project design and implementation of advocacy, policy and research activities. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Administration: Provide day to day support on project administration, finance, logistics / procurement and meeting / event coordination (virtual or in-person) tasks.
Project Management: Provide support on the implementation of projects (including project design, monitoring and evaluation); development of fundraising proposals; and, desktop research.
Reporting: Draft programme internal and external reports such as quarterly and annual reports; meeting minutes; donor reports.
Media / Communications: Provide support on developing content for communications products for the website, social media / media and digital campaigns.
Multi-stakeholder relations:  Contribute to maintaining and developing CSO partners and networks (community, national and global), and other stakeholders such as think-tank/academic institutions; media; and, government officials.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Proven skills and experience on project administration, finance, logistics and communications / social media.
Knowledge and experience of implementing advocacy and research initiatives.
Strong organisational and personal management skills with the ability to prioritise work issues to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and adjust to constantly changing situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through.
Excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal English.
Good knowledge of and experience with managing donor funded projects with experience in financial management, project budgeting, and budget monitoring.
A high level of self-awareness, initiative, sound judgement, personal energy and flexibility.
Ability and willingness to travel and to work extra hours as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic qualifications: Master’s degree in international relations or sustainable development, with knowledge in gender studies.
Minimum 3-4 years work experience working in the NGO sector.
Experience in development finance and gender justice sectors is an advantage.
