CWS proposes to implement a three year job training and livelihood program for 1,460 refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable South African citizens facing systemic obstacles to employment and integration. The overarching goal for this program is to increase self-reliance and resilience in each noted group, and to build cohesion within communities where there are emerging tensions with contributing factors being a lack of employment and productive work.  CWS will meet its objectives through the following key activities;  Case management, Self-Reliance Workshops, Language Training, Small Business Entrepreneurism Support: –  Integration of refugees and asylum seekers within the employment sector by Liaise for Employer Partners and Networking Activities for Employers and Small Business Entrepreneurs, Establishment and Management of Employment Help Desks: Outreach and Advocacy.

PROJECT MANAGER

Reporting to the SA Country Representative and RDP Director, this position will be responsible for day-to-day implementation of project activities and operational coordination with the regional office and other relevant agencies and providing guidance and oversight to the project officers and project assistants. The program manager will also serve as primary point of contact with the Regional office personnel in Nairobi.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
Take lead in the implementation of CWS Self-Reliance and Community Integration (SRCI) for Refugees, Asylum-Seekers and Other Vulnerable Populations Groups of KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng Provinces in South Africa
Provide the leadership and support to the program staff while managing collaboration with other programs and departments of CWS
Project Manager will be responsible for operational coordination of the Archdiocese, the Catholic Archdiocese of Durban Refugee Pastoral Care project activities.
The project manager will coordinator with UNHCR, Government of South Africa and other relevant agencies and partners within the program sector
The Manager will be responsible to establish a pipeline of employers through outreach, for those that have expressed a shared interest and goal of integrating refugees and asylum seekers within the local market sector.
Conduct outreach with local employers, chambers of commerce, NGOs and other local stakeholders, to familiarize them with the program’s objectives.
Project manager will, adapt CWS employment readiness training materials for local use.
Project manager will coordinate the Identification, verification and profiling of program participants in consultation with UNHCR, local NGOs and refugee community associations.
Meet with local businesses and employers federations to identify expectations for employees’ performance, and to identify job opportunities suitable for clients’ skills.
In collaboration with the CWS M & E coordinator, analyze information from project activities to assess the impact on participants’ economic self-reliance
The Project Manager must meet the following criteria:
University degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Business Administration, Social Work, Public Administration, Law)
At least Three years of prior work experience in a related field (e.g., social services, business development, labor relations)
Knowledge of local employment conditions and workplace norms; existing relationships with local businesses, employers federations or chambers of commerce is preferred
Prior experience working with refugees or asylum seekers and/or knowledge of local laws regarding asylum and refugee protection
Prior experience working with local government agencies, NGOs or community-based organizations, and/or UNHCR
Prior experience as a trainer or facilitator is preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work on weekends or evenings as needed
 A valid passport and the ability to maintain a valid passport throughout the entire appointment is required, which includes having enough passport pages for travel. The candidate should be of good health, willing and able to travel extensively in often difficult conditions, and have a high degree of flexibility. A clear MIE background check is required before the start of employment. Must be legally eligible to work full time in South Africa.
